Learning

原田ゼミでは、英語教育と応用言語学を大きなテーマとして学んでいます。ゼミ生へのアンケートをもとにして、毎年異なったテーマが取り扱われています（2020年度：二言語使用と社会言語学、2021年度：バイリンガル教育と二言語使用、2022年度：第二言語習得（春学期）・バイリンガル教育（秋学期））。

In the Harada Seminar, the major themes are English education and applied linguistics. Different themes are dealt with each year based on a questionnaire survey of students, (2020: Bilingualism and Sociolinguistics, 2021: Bilingual Education and Bilingualism, 2022: Second Language Acquisition in the spring semester, Bilingual Education in the fall semester).

Textbooks

​原田ゼミでは、500〜600ページ程度ある英語のテキストを使用しています。毎週10〜20ページ、ないしは１章分の予習が求められます。ゼミの冒頭では、毎回Moodleを使用した小テストが行われます。

We use a textbook written in English that has about 500-600 pages. Students are expected to prepare 10-20 pages or a chapter each week. At the beginning of each seminar, an online quiz is given thorough Moodle.

How to proceed

ゼミは毎週の予習範囲について、担当の学生がPowerPointやPreziなどを用いて作成したスライドをもとしたプレゼンテーションを中心に進行します。スライドは予習範囲の要約のみならず、いくつかディスカッションクエスチョンが盛り込まれたり、担当の学生が独自の視点で新しい情報を付け加えたりします。毎回、担当者のオリジナリティあふれる素敵なスライドが作られています。なお、ゼミはプレゼンテーション・ディスカッション含めて、全て英語で進行します。

Each seminar will consist of a presentation of the reading assignment, using slides prepared by the student in charge using PowerPoint or Prezi. The slides are not only summaries of the material to be covered, but also include discussion questions and new information added by the student from his or her own perspective. Each time, the students in charge create wonderful slides full of originality. All seminars, including presentations and discussions, are conducted in English.

Assignments

原田ゼミでは、以下のような課題をこなすことが求められます。

  • 毎回のテキストの予習＋小テスト

  • プレゼンテーション（半期で2回〜3回）

  • 自分のプレゼン後に提出するリフレクションペーパー

  • タームペーパー（期末に自分でテーマを設定して執筆するもの。英語でA4用紙10枚程度）

 

Students are expected to complete the following assignments: 

  • Preparation of the textbook for each class + quizzes

  • Presentations (2 to 3 times in each semester)

  • Reflection paper to be submitted after your presentation

  • Term paper (each semester, you will set your own theme and write about it. About 10 pages of A4 in English)

Graduation thesis

原田ゼミの卒業論文は、英語英文学科の卒業論文の様式に則って執筆します。ただし、英語で執筆することが条件です（約9000words）。論文の内容はゼミの内容に準じますが、英語教育や言語教育に関するものが多くなっています。

Our graduation thesis will be written according to the style of the Department of English Language and Literature. However, the thesis must be written in English (approximately 9000 words).
